This program examines the wide scope of work and expertise required in the field of carpentry. Students will learn the process of project planning, beginning with site assessment and layout, and progressing through the construction of footings, foundations, floors, walls, roofs, ceilings, and finish carpentry. Emphasis is placed on developing proficiency with carpentry tools and mastering finish work techniques, including the installation of doors, windows, flooring, drywall, exterior trim, door and window casings, baseboards, moldings, shelving, stair construction, and framing.
Participants will also enhance their problem-solving skills, cultivate an attention to detail, and acquire industry best practices and professional techniques. Each class incorporates hands-on exercises using demonstration frames specifically constructed for the course, providing practical experience in finish carpentry.
