This course provides an introduction to the fundamental hand and power tools commonly utilized in the electrical trade, with a strong emphasis on proper tool usage, safety protocols, and electrical safety procedures. Students will explore the principles of series and parallel circuits, perform circuit calculations, and become familiar with essential electrical components including boxes, wiring and cabling systems, panels, and circuit breakers.
Additionally, the course offers foundational knowledge of residential electrical circuits, practical experience in basic wiring techniques, blueprint interpretation, and circuit troubleshooting using multimeters. Topics such as capacitance, inductance, reactance, and impedance will be examined, along with an exploration of magnetism, electromagnetism, transformers, and their applications to motors and generators. The curriculum also includes an overview of how to apply the requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC) to standard installation practices.
