HVAC Basics – 180 Hours – 10 Month Program – Course #118155.401 Start Date 9/10/24

The basic vapor compression system will be taught. The types, principles, and operation of compressors, condensers, sub-cooling, liquid receivers, pump-down, filter dryers, sight glasses, metering devices, evaporators, superheat, and heat transfers will be introduced. This course will also focus on phase changes regarding temperature, refrigerants, manifold gauges, soldering, swaging, flaring, leak detection, evacuation, changing oils, recovery, recycling, and reclaiming.

Explore the types, principles, and operations of voltmeter, ohmmeters, ammeter, singles, and three-phase, transformers, thermostats, current relays, contactors, starters, and over-current protection. The study of a single element and time-delay fuse, circuit breakers, pressure-actuated protection devices, solid-state motor compressor protection, motors, capacitors, motor data plates, symbols, and safety practices are stressed. Hands-on electrical troubleshooting is also introduced.  EPA Section 608 Certification Included.
