Security Officer Training “New Officer” Course #116100.9 – Session 9 (Tue, Wed, Thur) (Week 1 – 5/13/25-5/15/25) (Week 2 – 5/20/25-5/22/25)

This 24-hour training program is designed to provide the required training mandated by (N.J.S. 45:19A-1 to 45:19A-12). Upon successful completion, a certificate of registration, valid for two years, is issued by the NJ State Police.

1. Must be at least 18 years old at time of application. 
2. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. ( have a Green Card)
3. Must register/complete SORA application with the NJ State Police. (fee required click HERE)
4. Must attend and successfully complete a NJ required training course.
5. Must be electronically fingerprinted by IdentoGo fingerprint services.
6. Upon successful completion of the required training and background clearance by the NJSP, candidates will receive NJ SORA license in the mail.

 The training program consists of Homeland Security/Counterterrorism, Communications, Emergency Response/ICS, Theft Prevention, Limits on use of force, Detention of suspects, Ethics/Professional Conduct, First Aid/CPR/AED, and other subjects deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of State Police.

Must Be Completed Prior To The Start Of Class (See Below)

• Prior to the first class session, students must complete the Security Office Application on the NJ State Police (NJSP) Website Click HERE for the link.
• Upon completion of your application, a link will be provided for fingerprinting and a background check.  If you fail to complete the fingerprinting and/or 24-hour training class within 30 days, you must submit a new application. All fees are non-refundable as per the NJSP.
• Once the application is complete NJSP will issue a temporary certificate of registration as a security office.
• The applicant has 30 days to complete an approved Security Officer Training course.
• You will be assigned an ID# by the NJSP this information must be provided to the Instructor first night of class.
